A certain degree of affirmation was given to Zac Efron's performance: Unlike all previous films, Efron was able to play a real adult role in this film.
The core of the film is of course only the plot of a romantic novel, but it is raised to a higher level by Sparks' convincing brushwork.
The film at least offers everything that the audience can expect: a touching romantic plot, a seductive starring, an atmosphere of photography and soundtrack, and a passionate drama that PG-13 can accommodate.
Sparks’ adaptation of the film has developed into a genre—unsurprisingly, purely sensational, and the main line of boys meeting girls; at least in these respects, the film has successfully completed its mission.
The film’s dog-blood plot is as thick and sweet as honey; but for audiences who use it, it is indeed rich in these ingredients.
