In order to make the shooting objects more real and natural, most of the underwater world scenes in the film use stop motion animation. Director Wes Anderson used a combination of live action and static animation to anthropomorphize all the animals in the underwater world and let them jump in the water world.
Another scene in the film is the expedition ship Belavente piloted by Steve Zesso and the expedition team. After searching, the production department found a minesweeper in South Africa. Although the exterior of the ship is well preserved, the production department needs to rebuild the interior of the ship to meet the requirements of marine research ships. As a result, the production staff renovated the watchtower and ship cleats, and purchased another ship similar to it. They disassembled and decorated the purchased ship and used it to shoot the internal scenes of the film.
