The Duke of Yorkshiresuffered from stuttering and was unable to give a speech in public, which made him embarrassed in large-scale ceremonies one after another. The virtuous wife Elizabethseeks out famous doctors everywhere in order to help her husband, but traditional methods never work. By chance, she came to the mansion of speech therapist Rainer Rogge, and it was said that his way was different. Although the Duke was not interested in Rogge's weird tricks, the first consultation was not happy. However, the Duke found that he was very fluent in reading Shakespeare while listening to music. This allowed him to trust Rogge, cooperate with the treatment, and slowly overcome the psychological barriers. George V died and Edward VIII succeeded to the throne, but he abdicated in order to marry the widow Mrs. Simpson. Albert was ordered to become King George VI. The biggest challenge he faced was how to deliver inspiring speeches before World War II.

The whole film is filled with a rigorous and solemn British style, with mottled walls and old sofas, each scene is very beautiful, Helena returns to elegance, Colin's usual temperament is compelling, and Lizzy cannot be ignored. The final speech felt that the whole person was suspended, the sound of the very sacred, calm and boiling. Goose bumps all over. This is a perfect and impeccable work.

The King's Speech quotes

  • King George VI: Every monarch in history has succeeded someone who is dead, or just about to be. My predecessor's not only alive, but very much so. Bloody mess. Can't even give them a Christmas speech.

Lionel Logue: Like your dad used to do.

    King George VI: Precisely.

Lionel Logue: He's not here anymore.

King George VI: Yes he is: he's on that shilling I gave you.

Lionel Logue: Easy enough to give away. You don't have to carry him around in your pocket. Or your brother. You don't need to be afraid of the things you were afraid of when you were five.

  • King George VI: ...a sieve of thisted siffles!
