The Horseman on the Roof movie plot

Colonel Angelo, a light cavalry who fought for the liberation of Italy, went into exile to a small town in southern France. Along the way, apart from avoiding the pursuit of Austrian spies, he was threatened by the rapidly spreading cholera plague. The god of death took the lives of thousands of people, and his eyes were full of wounds. The survivors were sent to the quarantine area under unusually bad conditions. He learned some rescue measures from doctors, and he was not afraid of infection and worked hard to save patients who were dying. In extremely difficult times, he met the beautiful and noble young woman Ballina, who was attracted by Angelo's polite gentleman's demeanor. In order to transport the funds accumulated by his comrades back to Italy, he once again crossed the plague zone, and Ballina walked with him. The spirit of helping others and the principle of being a man made him fulfill his duties with due diligence. When Polina was also infected with cholera, he tried his best to save her life and took her back from death. After that, he disappeared. She returned to her husband, thinking of Angelo in her heart, but her letter was like a cow into the sea, and she didn't receive his reply until she was almost desperate
