The story and character configuration of the film seem to be a clichéd American college youth love story, but in fact, the youth romance is the least important part of the film's story. The three characters who sound like a cliché are also quite realistic and full. In addition to the American-style plot and details, in terms of atmosphere, the film is closer to an Asian youth film: sentimental, subtle, light and delicate   .
Although the film is not a complicated film, it is worth discussing from many different angles. It juxtaposes same-sex attraction and opposite-sex attraction, neither favoring the other nor deliberately distorting it. As a youth film, the film still talks about the little lies, temptation, and confusion in the process of growing up, but avoids falling into the clichéd plot that makes no fuss. The film features a Chinese-American girl as the protagonist, and the process of her awakening and expressing her LGBT identity in white society is naturally presented in a non-spectacular way. Wu Siwei's future is full of expectations. Even putting aside the stylized labels, the film itself deserves enough attention because it satisfies the most difficult requirement for a film of its kind: freshness. The film carefully balances humorous rants and just-right provocations, and the light-hearted and cute style fits perfectly with the tone of the story   .

The second half leaked

The Half of It quotes

  • Ellie Chu: Aster Flores thinks you're into abstract art and repressed British literature.

    Paul Munsky: Yeah.

Ellie Chu: None of that is you.

Paul Munsky: It could be. I started reading that Remains of the Day book.

    Ellie Chu: Really?

Paul Munsky: Yeah. I fell asleep a few times, but I'm still reading it. That's gotta count for something.

  • Paul Munsky: What was your mom like?

    Ellie Chu: Young, funny, dead.

Paul Munsky: No, before she died.

Ellie Chu: Young, funny... .. fun.
