In 2009, the film’s producer Lawrence Mark approached Hugh Jackman, hoping to make a musical film. In order to make the film appear on the screen, Hugh Jackman also put a lot of effort behind the scenes, participating in every preparatory stage of the film. He asked his friend Bill Condon to modify the script, persuaded the producer to let Michael Gracie, who had never directed a movie, be the director, and joined Michael Gracie to recommend Benji Passek and Jia to the senior executives of Fox. Sting Paul composes music.
When the main creative team decided to use Barnum as the protagonist, the film was not even a song and dance film. It was turned into a combination of song and dance under the advice of Hugh Jackman. They once wanted to include other classic songs. But I didn't feel right on the way, so I decided to make a movie with original music.
