"The Gambler" is adapted from a short story by Dostoyevsky. In 1974, this novel was put on the screen, starring James Kane. For the new version of "The Gambler", please go to the script written by William Monaghan, who won the Academy Award for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay for "The Infinite Walker" . Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg plays the protagonist in the film. In an earlier interview with USA Today, he said that the biggest challenge for this character is not the weight loss of 50 catties, but how to make him play the role of professor of literature. People are convinced, "This means I must have my own opinions when I say those lines." Wahlberg said.
