A promotional video for the first generation of overseas immigrants to go home. The emotional contrast between the wedding banquet and the terminally ill, as well as the joys and sorrows hidden under the wedding banquet, and the conflict between Chinese and Western cultures, are quite interesting. It is especially valuable that it does not favor the individual or the overall family culture. Those seconds of expressing emotions on the piano are the icing on the cake. Some scenes are slightly deliberate, such as a group of people coming out of the hospital in slow motion, and the cousin crying too fake. Grandma's performance was amazing, as if she really didn't know her character was sick! The protagonist is considered qualified, and the protagonist's father is too inexistent. Why do various Asian characters always look for him? Speaking of which, in the whole bureau, the one who collapsed the most was the Japanese fake daughter-in-law, right?

Since the sundance hit at the beginning of the year, I finally watched it. Overall, it is much better than the script. I think a large part of it is due to Awkwafina's performance, which made many plot points that were likely to be embarrassed when reading the script to be a soft landing. The rhythm and breath of the film enliven the atmosphere of the whole film.

Jian: Chinese people have saying, when people get cancer they die. It's not cancer that kills them, it's the fear.

Jian: I don''t like, you know, put all my emotion on display. Like I''m in the zoo. But in here, if you don''t cry, you don''t put a show, they think that you don''t love your family. You know, in here, they even hire some professional criers. Just to show how sad they are. It''s just so ridiculous. I hate that.
