Brazil is a country paralyzed by a military dictatorship. In 1985, Brazil established a democratic foundation. In 2002, it elected Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a very popular steel worker who turned into a political activist. Under his leadership, 20 million Brazilians were lifted out of poverty, and Brazil gained international fame. In 2010, Lula passed the presidential baton to his successor, a female guerrilla named Dilma Rousseff.
However, behind their sunny heritage, populist anger and institutional corruption spread to mainstream society, most of which were instigated by a party judge who provided sensational corruption reports to the news media. The report is aimed at Lula, Dilma, and others who refuse to please powerful politicians and special interest groups. The Edge of Democracy follows Brazil’s embattled leaders who are fighting a scandal caused by their country’s fascist history, which was instigated by an angry and ideologically divided country   .

The film has several very beautiful drone shots, and there is even a scene that almost crosses time (panning from day to night); the national political system is not a black-and-white opposition, understandable white-left sympathy tendencies, but the so-called democracy is like the title The meaning expressed in the opening venue is not forgetting the original intention

The limitation of the masses of the people is that the revolution has never moved forward to overthrow the existing regime and cannot do anything to build a healthy political system. No matter how many enemies are defeated, they have to give up the victory. History always repeats itself.

The Edge of Democracy quotes

  • Petra Costa: A Greek writer said that democracy is only working when the rich feel threatened. Otherwise, oligarchy takes over. From father to son, son to grandson, from grandson to great grandson, and so successively.

  • Self - Ex-Presidente: It's no use trying to stop me from travelling around this country, because there are millions of Lulas, Boulos, Manuelas, and Dilma Rousseffs to do it for me. There's no use in trying to stop my ideas. They're already in the air, and you can't imprison them! There's no point in trying to stop my dreams, because when I stop dreaming, I'll be dreaming through your minds and dreams! There's no point in thinking everything's going to stop the day Lula has a heart attack. That's nonsense! Because my heart will be beating through yours, and there are millions of hearts! The powerful can kill one, two, or 100 roses. But they'll never stop the arrival of spring, and our fight is in search of spring!
