Most of the films were shot in real scene.
The film is the second collaboration between Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger after co-starring in "A Beautiful Couple" 17 years ago.
One of the reasons Jeff Bridges agreed to appear in the film was to show his painting expertise in the film.
Kim Basinger said that she was attracted to the film because of her collaboration with TodWilliams and Marion's loneliness.
During the filming of the film, the original author John Owen led his family to visit the studio. It was a scene with Kim Basinger. She was very nervous and had been holding the cocktail umbrella in the drink glass. When the filming ended, she had a pile of fragments of the cocktail umbrella in front of her.
The two late boys in the film are played by the two cousins of the director Tod Williams, and those pictures are indeed from their childhood.
The oil painting titled "The Door in the Floor" in the film was painted by Jeff Bridges himself.
The original candidate to play Eddie was Ben Foster, but he later gave the role to his younger brother Jon Foster because he thought his younger brother was more suitable for this role.
