The Decoy Bride Creative background

The film is the first screenplay written by British comedian Sally Phillips and her partner Neil Jaworski. People around her have been urging her to write a romantic comedy for a long time, but among the popular comedies, what she dislikes most is the cynicism and self-compassion in it. Sally Phillips expressed that she loves Scotland and she believes that the film should be a "super romantic Disney style" film about Scotland. She sets the protagonist of the film as a girl from the Hebrides of Scotland because she believes that Scottish women are strong and not willful   .
