In the summer of 1942 Warrant Officer Vaskov led two squads of female anti-aircraft gunners stationed in a village next to a small station. The surrounding area of the station is a strategic location, and enemy planes often come to bomb or harass it. One day, the squad leader Lida found the airborne Deko in the nearby woods. So Vaskov led a team of five girls, including Lida, Genia, Lisa, Galka, and Sonia, to the forest to search for Deko. In the battle with the enemy, the girls died one by one. Squad leader Lida did not want to drag Vaskov after being seriously injured. She entrusted Vaskov to find her son, and then shot herself. Vaskov went straight to Deko's camp in the forest with hatred. He disarmed the enemy and led the German prisoners toward the camp. On the way, he saw reinforcements headed by the major rushing towards him, and he fainted with relief because of the excessive bleeding from the wound. Many years later, Vaskov, who had gray hair and had his left hand amputated and put on a prosthetic hand, brought Lida's son, who had grown into a young officer, to the woods where he fought back then and found the five female soldiers of the year. Tombs, a marble tombstone was erected for them. Some happy young people who had not experienced war and came to the local area for tourism involuntarily stood in mourning against the tombstones
