During the filming of the film, Adolf Borg and another old man, formerly a prisoner who forged counterfeit money in a concentration camp, visited the setting of the film. They were both ninety years old, and they diverged on some historical details. The two elderly survivors had different opinions on certain details, such as whether the bed where the prisoners slept was made of metal or wood. Even their Nazi leaders in the concentration camps held different views on the issue of whether the Nazi leaders in the concentration camps were war criminals or their life-savers.
This movie about concentration camps is different from previous movies on this subject. Although the prisoners in the concentration camp are all first-class prisoners of war, the film can always realize that the threat of death has never been far away from them.
