"The Counterfeiters" puts forward the fact that in the face of the threat of death, it is everyone's instinct to survive. And this movie boldly puts forward an idea to save the people around you, save the people within your reach and ability. For those who stand on the moral high ground, "The Counterfeiters" must be ridiculous and shameless. However, its individual and collective thinking is worthy of everyone's thinking.
War-themed movies should make the audience emotional, and most of them will appeal to one or several strong feelings, or hatred of the enemy, or sympathy for the victim, or admiration for the martyrs, or contempt for the traitor. "The Counterfeiters" is very special. It is not any of the above emotions that leads the audience into the drama, but a ubiquitous but lingering ambivalence. Corresponding to this kind of psychology is the complex human nature in extreme environments.
()
The film keeps the audience's attention focused on the living group of counterfeit banknote makers. Through their words and deeds, more and more panic is reflected in the death-filled concentration camp panorama. The perspective is novel, the story is vivid and quite human.
For the audience, the process of reproducing history is no longer the most important part of World War II films. It is the value of these films that expresses people's choices in the historical process. Unlike " Valkyrie " deliberately narrating from the perspective of a Hollywood hero, the film's interpretation of history is more in line with the audience's requirements for the film.
