The Browning Version movie plot

Crock Harris, a classics teacher at a British school, is about to retire due to ill health. One day, the student Taplow came to him and asked to switch from classical literature to science. Harris did not answer his request explicitly, only telling Taplow that he would be taking Greek literature classes for him in the afternoon. Harris was irritated by Taplow's poor translation of the Greek tragic writer Aeschylus, but he was gentle with Taplowe. The principal told Harris that the school was not going to give him a pension. Harris' wife, Laura, attacked her husband when she found out, and went to see her lover, science teacher Frank Hunter. Taplow came to Harris again, and brought him a translation of Aeschylus's works by Robert Browning. Harris was deeply moved by the gift, but Laura deliberately angered him. Hunter came to comfort him, saying that Taplow actually liked Harris very much, and admitted to Harris that he had an inappropriate relationship with Laura. Harris told Laura that their marriage was over. The next day, at the award ceremony for retired teachers, Harris was the last to speak. His touching speech caused warm applause from all the teachers, students and the school's board of directors present, expressing sympathy and respect for the old teacher.
