In Berlin in 1940, Bruno, an eight-year-old boy, returned home after playing outside with his classmates and found that the family was very busy. It turned out that his father, who was a Nazi officer, was promoted and was about to be dispatched, and his mother was preparing for a party. It's just that Bruno is not happy at all. His father's new position is in a Nazi concentration camp in Poland. The whole family has to move there, so he has to leave his beloved home and friends.

On the other hand, his father decided to send them and his mother to his aunt in Heidelberg. Bruno felt desperate at the thought of never seeing his best new friend again. Shmuel told Bruno that his father had disappeared for three days. Bruno decided to use his last time to do something for him, so he also put on a striped pajamas and crawled into the concentration camp from under a piece of loose barbed wire.
