At first glance, the title of the film-"The Alphabet Killer" might think that this is a thriller with a speculative nature. The letters protruding out of the screen constantly appear, and the suspenseful opening of the film seems to confirm this. But the choreographer did not focus on how to detect serial homicides, but went deep into the inner world of a responsible policewoman with a gloomy story with a spiritual color to show her personal problems and dilemmas. The choreographer brought along and criticized the various injustices that existed in the real world. The reason why thriller suspense films attract audiences is mainly because of the step-by-step shocking advancement and the hearty feeling of uncovering the mystery of the whole case. Regardless of the external form of thrillers, the creation of thrillers adheres to this principle of immutability. Although Rob Schmidt, the director of "The Alphabet Killer", is a master of such films, for the sake of the so-called novelty, he discarded the indispensable elements of success and took the line of psychological horror. This kind of innovation is understandable, but the director actually put the film style in a very awkward position, and the overall observability plummeted.
Leading actor Eliza Patricia Dushku uses an appropriate way to portray the protagonist's inner kindness and collision and the anxiety that schizophrenia brings to the character. But the overall mediocrity of the film has affected and annihilated the light of Eliza Patricia Dushku. Megan's hallucinations are a more important element in the film, but the withering and pale illusions of victimized girls that continue to appear in the movie only give the audience a superficial horror. The inner drama that was supposed to be very catching is superficial, directly causing the film to lose its inner tension and appear lost in style. In the final analysis, this is a thriller without any horror
