"Terra Nova" follows an ordinary family on an extraordinary journey, witnessing them travel back to prehistoric times and join a bold experiment to save mankind. In 2149 AD, the human world was dying. The entire planet is over-exploited, over-populated, and most of the animals and plants have become extinct. Mankind is in a dying struggle, the future is doubtful, and the only hope of survival is to search for it in the distant past.
Scientists accidentally discovered a time gap when operating the Fermi particle accelerator, which can be used to build a portal to the prehistoric world. Then a bold idea came into being, allowing humans to re-settle in the past-a chance to rebuild human civilization, and in the right way.
The whole play revolves around the Shannon family.
