Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street domestic evaluation

Tim Burton’s Spartan-style condensed version tells a Victorian epic. Its mellow and sophisticated techniques make it easy for the audience to associate the cannibalism of the Todd era with the current weak and powerful. Linear cruel narrative, all the branches are cut off. This is a story about infatuation, love, pain, fear, and loss. Bolton used black and white images to remind the audience of his previous thriller "Drifted Head", which made him alienate from the protagonist in terms of visual effects, but at the same time devoted more empathy to his emotions. From the perspective of storytelling, the film version of "Sweeney Todd" was an outstanding re-creation, and even touched the "pure elements" in Sondheim's music circle.
"Barber Todd" is a film similar to "Count of Monte Cristo". The main color of the film is darkness, which emphasizes the theme of revenge and the cold mood of the protagonist Todd. "Sweeney Todd" surprised those fans who are familiar with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Cruel scenes of blood and ground meat will appear in the film from time to time, but there is still some warmth in the film. And a clue of hope. The songs in the film are euphemistic and beautiful, and the soundtrack is sad and moving. Johnny Depp emotionally interprets a heartbroken executioner, and the painful expression at the beginning of the concert is enough to shock every audience.

BURTON's movie originally had no content. Now there is no entertainment. A good actor and composer was wasted.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street quotes

  • Sweeney Todd: [singing] For what's the sound of the world out there?

Mrs. Lovett: What, Mr. Todd? What, Mr. Todd? What is that sound?

Sweeney Todd: Those crunching noises pervading the air!

Mrs. Lovett: Yes, Mr. Todd! Yes, Mr. Todd! It's all around!

Sweeney Todd: It's man devouring man, my dear!

Sweeney ToddMrs. Lovett: And/Then who are we to deny it in here?

  • Sweeney Todd: What may I do for you today, sir? A stylish trimming of the hair? A soothing skin massage? Sit, sir, sit.

Judge Turpin: [singing] You see, sir, a man infatuate with love, her ardent and eager slave. So fetch the pomade and pumice stone and lend me a more seductive tone, a sprinkling perhaps of French cologne, but first, sir, I think... a shave.

Sweeney Todd: The closest I ever gave.
