The master used our audience's trust in the image/character/plot/director to tell us a "true lie" in the first ten minutes. We have no reason not to believe that a male protagonist (he is the male protagonist in the first ten minutes) tells a story to a female protagonist, we identify the beginning - the real beginning, and we also identify the love between the two protagonists , you can even imagine a happy ending: Eve helps Jonathan clear his grievances, and Jonathan and Eve finally have a happy ending.
However, Hitchcock's story is not so simple, and the complicated plot is as difficult to guess as love. The master is here to tell homicide detective stories, but also love. Eve didn't believe that Jonathan was a murderer until the last moment, and even those of us who "didn't love" Jonathan knew a little earlier than she did that we fell in love with the image, the director, and this kind of movie game.
I remember that Truffaut of the New Wave highly admired Master Hitchcorman. His love story is exactly the same as that of the master's detective story. He must have benefited from these detective thrillers. ", "Cheating Marriage" and other films pay tribute to the master in the most direct way.
As far as I can remember, the film's skill in dealing with the opening flashbacks is gorgeous. Charlotte's scene at Jonathan's house only uses one shot, but it's not boring at all. And the description of Jonathan going to Charlotte's house to pick up clothes, the camera follows from outside the door into the room (Jonathan can close the door at will), and then follows Jonathan upstairs and rises in one go, which is also breathtaking. In my impression, in the later paragraphs, the techniques are still relatively plain, and I wonder if the master has hinted by the techniques: gorgeous love lies.
In addition, there is also the female star Charlotte played by Dai Cuiqi in the film worthy of appreciation by the audience. Burnout, arrogant, vain, ruthless use of men and extremely lonely, indescribable character and charming demeanor leave a deep impression. Especially in the performance after the cooperating with the murderer, the emptiness, boredom, loneliness and sadness in an opera star's heart are vividly expressed in a few lines and actions, which can be called a classic supporting role.

Eve Gill: I could do it, really I could. I've done a bit of acting.
Nellie Goode: Character acting?
Eve Gill: Yes.
Nellie Goode: I see. All you got to do is put on some of your old clothes and make yourself look common like me.

Charlotte Inwood: [to the dressmaker] This is very nice. If you can call mourning, nice. But, isn't there some way we could, eh, let it plunge a little in front? I suppose not.
