Speed High-speed scene

Part of the highway scene in the film was filmed on California Interstate 105 and 110, which were not yet completed. During the inspection of the location, De Bont noticed that a section of the road was missing a large area of road, so he asked the screenwriter Graham Yost Add the plot of the bus flying over the unfinished section. During the actual shooting, the crew used a high-grade high-carrying dedicated lane. In order to allow the heavy bus to fly 50 feet in the air, all unnecessary body parts were removed. The bus that completed this stunt had only the driver and the crew was seated. A cushioning device that absorbs impact is installed on the chair to prevent the driver's spine from being injured. The first jump ended when the bus crashed out of the slope. The second jump two days later was very successful. It just hit a camera when the bus landed. Fortunately, a second camera located 70 feet away from the slope made this spectacular. The scene was recorded.
