The statue of Jesus dangling on the cross with one hand like a monkey, the degraded old man spent his 100th birthday in front of a room full of spooky guests, the father who set fire to swindle money, the son who wrote poetry and went crazy into the hospital, unique vision Language, between the seemingly loosely connected scenes, constructs the director's deep-level picture of the contemporary world in the minds of the director. On a strange and unknown night, strange things happened one after another: humiliating company employees were laid off with no dignity; immigrants were inexplicably attacked by bad elements, and the entire bus station stood by and watched; playing the magic of the big saw. The teacher really opened up the open belly of the audience who volunteered on stage. Amidst the chaos, a smoky-faced Karl appeared. He had just set fire to his furniture store, trying to defraud the fire insurance money. All night, everyone was in a hurry and couldn't close their eyes. On the second day, the level of chaos continued unabated. The insurance company and Carl were wrestling, and the whole city fell into a big traffic jam that was completely immovable. When everything seemed to be out of control at the beginning of the millennium, Carl slowed down. It's not quite like Northern Europe, but Eastern Europe has a stronger flavor. The movie is composed of many pale, numb, and monotonous long-range shots, like an absurd and funny stage play. Long takes with elements that come and go slowly, with rhythm and eerie effect like a long-simmering symphony. How much worry about the society has been suffocated, and all of them have been scolded. The narrative and characters and elements of the world are exquisitely refined. Poets in asylums; breeding in golf clubs; children killed after rigorous testing; magic no longer working; pursuits of the past. The last scene was strong. Equally strong should happen to poets, magicians, and Jesus.
