In 1994, the completion of the Eurostar high-speed railway shortened the travel time between London and Paris, and also changed the appearance of many old towns along the way, which in turn brought changes to the lives of local people. It was prepared to commemorate the transformation of these old towns. The St. Pancras station in the film is located in the small town of Sammas in the central area of ​​London. In 2007, the Eurostar route was changed to pass through this town, and the original old station was also transformed into a brand new look. 
In the original plan, "Somers Town" was just a promotional film for the Eurostar train company, and Sean effortlessly obtained the power of attorney for the full content, and then started to expand the story step by step. In fact, the train only appeared three or four times in the film, and the most advertised section was said through the mouth of the character. The generosity of Eurostar guarantees the quality of "Somers Town".
During a train journey from Nottingham to London, director Sean Meads observed the transformation of the area around St Pancras Station, so he had the inspiration to shoot the film, and this was his first filming in the London area movie of. The story of the film originated from a short film script created by the screenwriter Paul Ferriser. The original concept of the story was improvised and rehearsed by the director Shan Meadows and the actors before a long version of the script. In order to show the original taste of the town in the story, the set and props used by the crew in the film are all taken from the local area, and even the extras have invited the local residents to come out. The director of photography, Natasha Blair, proposed black and white image processing suggestions for the film, so as to present the timeless and immortal appearance of the town of Sammas in the turn of the century when the town changed.
