Sliding Doors evaluation action

The film mixes elements of "Two Flowers" and "Running Lola" in the story structure and plot setting, telling a modern love story that seems bizarre but full of mystery and romance. The film does not use fast editing and cool pop music like "Running Laura", but uses plain narrative techniques to tell what a woman might experience in two different lives. The film's cross-cutting method of editing matches the film's theme very well. While carefully compiling this story, the director always conveys such extraneous words: life is full of various choices and opportunities, and casual decisions may affect all people's life courses. Facing life bravely, positively and optimistically, maybe every day is a new beginning.
The whole film is "Made in Britain", and it is permeated with a fresh and smooth British style from beginning to end. Peter Howitt's directing skills are proficient and sophisticated, and Gwyneth Paltrow has performed Helen's double-faced life very well, very wonderful   .
"Sliding Doors" is enriched and developed on the basis of the parallel montage application of the predecessors, and finally found a suitable form, so that its not novel content has been properly interpreted   .

The structure is not exquisite, and the narrative technique has a lot of room for improvement, at least it can use picture-in-picture. Gwyneth is getting old so fast. After he was not yet sealed, he looks like an old woman now, in his early forties, right? The Hong Kong version of the translated name is very good, "Fate on Both Sides", just a few seconds away, life is very different. However, at the end of the movie, it came back again.

Sliding Doors quotes

  • James: Cheer up. Remember what the Monty Python boys say.

Helen: "Always look on the bright side of life"?

James: No, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition."

  • [last lines]

[Helen drops her earring in the lift. James picks it up and gives it to her]

    Helen: [gloomily] Thank you.

James: Cheer up, you know what the Monty Pythons always say...

Helen: "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition"

[Helen and James turn and stare at each other as the lift closes]
