"Shark Story" is co-directed by Vicki Jason, Bi Bao Bao Lang and Rob Letterman. These three directors each stand on their own: Vicki Jason is in charge of the characters and is good at mobilizing actors; Bi Bao. Bougrand is a professional in the animation industry. He has his own animation company and leads the animation related departments; Rob Letterman participated in the script creation and is unique in perfecting the film's story. The three have different expertise, and the division of labor in cooperation is also different.
"Shark Story" is a milestone for DreamWorks. DreamWorks established an animation production park in Glendale, California. This film is the first computer animation film produced in the park using the latest animation production process.
"Shark Story" anthropomorphizes the underwater world more thoroughly, and the plot is also quite creative. The weak and strong forces among various submarine groups are completely compared to the gang struggle of the human underworld. "Shark Story" inherits the anti-traditional and anti-classical comedy style of DreamWorks, playing parody of classic movies such as "The Godfather", "Jaws" and "The Pentium Age". The "adult" route of "Shark Story" can be called the animated version of "The Godfather". The shark family of the underworld is portrayed as an Italian mafia-like criminal gang with Italian names and habits. "Shark Story" is a spoof of classic gangster movies. The story background of "Shark Story" not only has the shadow of the casinos of Las Vegas, Chicago and even Miami, but the storyline also draws on the series of "Bold and Ambitious" and "The Godfather".
"Shark Story" is the first CG animation produced entirely in the Glendal Animation Production Park, and most of the animators there are still hand-drawn graphic animators. For the needs of the film, they began to turn to computer animation.
Hewlett-Packard provided a total of 300 workstations for the film. The animators, the art team, the special effects team and other departments are inseparable from these computers. This allows each department to see the completed details at a glance and make adjustments and improvements in time.
