In the summer of 1593, William Shakespeare, a shining star in the London theatre industry, faced a major crisis. He lost his inspiration for writing. It was the era of Elizabeth I, full of colorful entertainment and fun, but the great Shakespeare Jiang Lang is exhausted. No matter what method he uses, no matter how much pressure the theater owner and creditors put on him, he just doesn't have the inspiration and motivation to create the next play. This play is called "Romeo and the Pirate's Daughter Peach".
Shakespeare needed a goddess to inspire him. He didn't expect that real life would reflect his creation. He fell in love with a girl and brought him into his own drama.
A lady named Viola disregarded the ban on women not being allowed to appear on stage at the time, pretending to be a man, went to the theater to audition for Shakespeare, but the young Shakespeare soon discovered that she was a woman, and the two immediately fell in love. At that time, Shakespeare's inspiration was flooding, turning their love into words, Vera became the Juliet in his life, and he, Romeo, also found the meaning of survival.
But Shakespeare’s luck is not so good. Although he writes like a god, he has to face the cruel fact that Viola must marry Sir Weiser.
In a confused and intricate oolong farce, the jealous husband and his wife’s lover are duel, and the lifelong couple secretly flirts, and the young Shakespeare not only has to come up with a perfect ending for his script, He also has to find a happy ending for his own love.

Can I characterize the two as adulterers and prostitutes? A married man colluded with a high-ranking lady, euphemistically called it "great love". I only see sex, not love. A-line actors showing their breasts is the highlight, nothing else.

I have never been impressed with this kind of film, but I give a thumbs up to the seriousness of the British attitude towards heritage films!

Shakespeare in Love quotes

  • Queen Elizabeth: [after inspecting Viola] Have her then, but you're a lordly fool. She's been plucked since I saw her last, and not by you... it takes a woman to know it.

    Lord Wessex: [angrily] Marlowe!

  • Makepeace, the Preacher: [protesting outside The Rose] Licentiousness is made a show! Vanity and pride are likewise made a show! This is the very business of show!
