Secretary movie plot

The heroine Lee Holloway, in her twenties, returned to her home in the State of New Jersey after a brief treatment at the psychiatric center . Faced with the alcoholic father and the cowardly doting mother again, her "self-destructive" symptom increased somewhat. She was clearly aware of the terrifying nature of the "relapse of the old disease", so she began to find a way to escape this depressive living environment that had been felt since she was a child. She started to learn to type, and soon found a job as a secretary in a law firm. It is very important for her to keep this job, even though her boss Edward Grey (James Spader) seems a bit domineering .
Edward watched her, studied her, and slowly began to correct her typing mistakes, punishing her with his palm buttocks at the gorgeous desk. This actually aroused Lee's lust for Mr. Grey. Since then, she has repeatedly deliberately used "typing errors" to relive this'warmth'.
The film carefully expands the character's personality, and finally makes Lee and Edward clearly realize that there is a special, physical and spiritual dependence between them. The two oppressed and fragile hearts slowly approached without speaking, balancing each other's hurt and pain, and the whole process was full of warmth and harmony.

Secretary quotes

  • [Mr. Grey asks Lee if she really wants the job before getting into the details]

    E. Edward Grey: Do you really want to be a secretary, Lee?

    Lee: Yes, I do.

    E. Edward Grey: You scored higher than anyone I ever interviewed. You're really over-qualified for the job. You'd be bored to death.

Lee: I want to be bored.

  • [Mr. Grey tells Lee the details of what the secretary job pertains]

    E. Edward Grey: All I need is a typist. Who can get to work on time and answer the phone.

    Lee: I can do that.

    E. Edward Grey: We only use typewriters here, not computers.

    Lee: That's fine.

    E. Edward Grey: It's very dull work.

    Lee: I like dull work.

    E. Edward Grey: [Mr. Grey stares closely into Lee's face] There's something about you. You're... close-closed up tight. A wall.

    Lee: I know.

    E. Edward Grey: Do you ever loosen up?

    Lee: I don't know.

    E. Edward Grey: [the phone begins to ring] I'm not here.
