Although he knew that he should sit down in front of the computer and continue writing the next book, or at least take his dog for a walk on the frivolity of the lake outside the cabin, the well-known writer Mott Raineyis really not in this mood. He has to sleep in the most comfortable place in the room for at least 16 hours a day. Mott was not a dull-minded person, but something happened for a reason, and found that his wife was sleeping with other men, which any man with a strong feeling could not bear. As a result, the same forest birds of different roads went their separate ways. The failure of the relationship eventually made Mott frustrated. After leaving the city he had been familiar with, he came to this dim and dirty house by the lake to seek spiritual relief.
Hard to extricate himself from the painful quagmire, Mott gradually lost the motivation and confidence to write, and his once passionate creative enthusiasm was also far away from him. Even the simple sentences are no longer the gorgeous rhetoric that made them gorgeous and colorful. And all this seems to be far from passing away because of the passing of time. One day, a sudden incident worsened the situation.
The intrusion of a neurotic stranger breaks the relative silence. His name is John Shute, and his excuse for rushing in is to accuse Mott of stealing his novel ideas and demanding corresponding compensation. Although Mott tried his best to clarify his innocence, he only got stronger persistence and hostility. Naturally, Mott, who has a clear conscience, cannot acquiesce in this injustice, and the only evidence for defending himself is the original manuscript of the novel. But a series of unexpected strange events suddenly appeared, forcing Mott to be unable to find the original manuscript within the time agreed with Shute. When this series of illogical things happened at the beginning, Mott began to feel a little uneasy about the mysterious Shute, and began to try to expose his true face. Just before the truth was unsuccessful, another bizarre thing happened.
