Jewish boy David was admitted to the famous high school Saint Matthew for his expertise in rugby , but no one knew he was Jewish except for the coach and principal. In the United States at the time, racial discrimination was still very serious. In order to get along with other classmates smoothly, David did not reveal his true identity to anyone. Soon after enrolling, David showed his talent in rugby. Not only was the coach excited about discovering a good seed, but the players and roommates also liked the humorous and superb David.
At a dance, David met the girl Celie brought by his teammate Charles the Great , and they fell in love at first sight. But Charles the Great has always liked Sally, and when he found out that his beloved girl had another love, he felt very contradictory. Charles the Great’s brother is a well-known top student in the school, and Charles the Great’s family also graduated from prestigious universities. And Charles the Great is under David, both academically and technically, and he is under a lot of pressure inside him. Once Charles the Great learned of David's secret, so he disclosed it to his roommate. Everyone could not believe that David, a popular football star, was actually Jewish, and the scene was extremely embarrassing.
Since David's identity was made public, he has become a target of public criticism, and students began to mock and humiliate David in various ways. Although David was very angry, he could bear all this. The only thing that made him unacceptable was that Celie also chose to leave him, and David couldn't figure it out all the time.
In an exam at the end of the semester, Charles the Great chose to cheat out of fear of failing to pass. After the teacher found out, he asked the cheating person to stand up on his own, otherwise the whole class would be sentenced to fail. When the classmates were suspicious of each other, David approached Charles the Great, hoping that he could stand up and admit it. However, at the class meeting, Charles the Great insisted that the cheating was David, which made him very angry. The students discussed this issue, and it was almost impossible to tell which person was lying. Due to prejudice against Jews and David had concealed the truth that he was a Jew before, most of the students thought that David must be lying, and there was no conclusion for a while.
David was tired of this life of discrimination. He took the initiative to find the principal, told him that he was cheating, and asked the school to expel him. However, unexpectedly, Fan, who had always been strongly dissatisfied with the Jews, found the principal before David and told the truth-he also saw Charles the Great cheating. The school hoped to solve this problem by not holding both parties accountable, but David refused. He knows that the school accepts him only because of his football skills, and it doesn't matter if such a school does not go to school. So David raised his head and left the principal's office, and chose to drop out. He will not regret not being able to complete his studies in this school, nor will he bow his head to anyone because he is a Jew
