The story of the movie "Sand Castle" is adapted from a real experience of screenwriter Chris Rosner on the battlefield in Iraq in 2003. The protagonist is a U.S. machine gunner Matt Okre ( Nicholas Caradoc Hoult ). His squad was sent to the village of Baquba, Iraq, to repair the broken pipes in the village. However, the Iraqis in Baquba cherished a deep hatred for the US military. The squad was repeatedly attacked by enemy snipers and suicide bombings. Despite their guards everywhere, Ocre’s comrades died one by one. How can Okre, whose will is gradually worn out, show his goodwill to the local villagers and successfully complete the task?
