Road to Perdition evaluation action

The reality and fiction of the film are handled very properly. Most of the shots are pushed out of the screen, some are reflected in a mirror, and only a small part is described in the front. Sam Mendes's work is indispensable for the visual "colorful movement", but the film is very stingy, and only a little "big picture" is shown at the end of the film. Although the film is slightly thin in plot and characterization, it has the irresistible feeling of ancient Greek tragedy or mythology, and the style embodied in photography, art and music makes people feel shocked outside the theme.
The film is a bit dull, the part of the shootout has a shadow of a Hong Kong movie, and what attracts people to watch is the wonderful performance of the four male protagonists. This is a purely male film. The affectionateness of the father and son and the stubbornness or perseverance of the man are not shown in the traces. It is worth watching from the beginning.

Road to Perdition quotes

  • Maguire: Smile.

  • [last lines]

Michael Sullivan, Jr.: I saw then that my father's only fear was that his son would follow the same road. And that was the last time I ever held a gun. People always thought I grew up on a farm. And I guess, in a way, I did. But I lived a lifetime before that, in those six weeks on the road in the winter of 1931. When people ask me if Michael Sullivan was a good man, or if there was just no good in him at all, I always give the same answer. I just tell them... he was my father.
