An old man living in the countryside of Nagasaki, Japan, suddenly received an airmail letter from Hawaii, the United States. The sender is Clark, the old man's nephew. The letter stated that the old man's brother immigrated to the United States in his early years and became a rich man by operating a pineapple farm. He is suffering from an incurable disease and hopes to meet his younger sister before his death. The old man's son and daughter were excited about the sudden appearance of such a wealthy relative in the United States, so they immediately placed their four children in their mother's house and set off for the United States. During the day and night with their grandmother, the children listened to the grandmother's memory of her grandfather's death in the atomic bombing, and understood the grandmother's nostalgia for his grandfather and her unwillingness to go to the United States. Under the persuasion of the children, the grandmother agreed to visit her elder brother in the United States on August 9th on the anniversary of her grandfather’s death, because the day in 1945 was the day when Nagasaki was bombed by the atomic bomb, and the villagers would collectively mourn the dead on this day. The children's father and aunt returned from the United States. When they heard that their grandmother had replied to their brother in the United States, he blamed her for not telling them about the atomic bomb, for fear that they would cut off the contact with this wealthy relative. However, Clark returned from the United States and expressed his sincere feelings.
Clark and everyone came to the scene where his grandfather died. There is still a climbing frame for children's games that were distorted by the atomic bomb. Clark left in a hurry. The old man standing in the yard for a long time, eyes full of tears, holding the telegram tightly in his hand. At night, wind and rain were blowing, lightning and thundering. The old man seemed to have lost his normalcy, shouting "Atomic bomb is coming, the atomic bomb exploded" while covering the children with white cloth sheets. When I woke up, the old man was gone. Seeing her faintly visible figure in the distance, the children rushed into the torrential rain, walking in the mud, and chasing into the distance
