During the one-month filming process, Qiaoqin Darcy, who played Miss Toso, stayed on the set all day, and also lived in the apartment where the movie characters lived during the break.
Except for the scenes of a couple near the end of the film and the scene where the dead dog was found, the other scenes were shot through the windows of Jeffrey's apartment. During the filming, Hitchcock worked in Jeffrey's apartment. The other actors in the apartment opposite are wearing flesh-colored headphones so that Hitchcock can communicate directly with them.
In order to be able to change day and night arbitrarily within forty-five minutes, the crew used a thousand arc lamps to mimic the sunlight. During the shooting, the hot light was unbearable, and the staff had to activate the sprinkler system in the studio to cool down.
The reason why Hitchcock decided to play Mr. Sue by Raymond Burr was because Raymond Burr only needed a little makeup, just like Hitchcock producer David Selznick. Hitchcock felt that David had interfered too much with him, so he wanted to take revenge.
Hitchcock personally designed the costumes in "Rear Window" for Grace Kelly; each prop is specially customized, from color to material, all finalized in the script.

After falling, I immediately thought of this film. The actor broke his leg just like me, was bored at home, and then spied on his neighbor.

"I've always wanted to meet Mrs. Thorward." Things won't come out of nowhere, and the girlfriend also joined in. The detective was so ridiculous, it turned out to be a comedy haha!

Rear Window quotes

  • Lisa Fremont: You can't ignore the wife dissapearing, and the trunk, and the jewelery.

Tom Doyle: I checked the railroad station. Yesterday at 6:20 am, he bought a ticket. Ten minutes later, he put his wife on a train. Destination: Meritsville. I asure you, the witnesses are that deep.

Lisa Fremont: That might have been a woman, but it couldn't have been Mrs. Thorwald. That jewelery...

Tom Doyle: Look, Miss Fremont, that feminine intuition stuff sells magazines, but in real life it's still a fairy tale. I don't know how many times I chased down leads based on women's intuition.

  • Lisa Fremont: Jeff, you know if someone came in here, they wouldn't believe what they'd see. You and me with long faces plunged into despair because we find out a man didn't kill his wife. We're two of the most frightening ghouls I've ever known.
