Helen Harris (Kate Hudson) is an assistant model agent who always dreams of becoming a well-known model agent in Manhattan. She has a colorful and free life. The way to spend her time is to shuttle through various fashion catwalks during the day, and spend her time in the busiest bars in New York City at night.
But Helen’s free life was broken for no apparent reason by a sharp phone ring. In a traffic accident, her sister and brother-in-law died unexpectedly, and she had to take on the responsibility of taking care of her three nieces and nieces when she was young. And become the legal guardian of the children.
In the eyes of everyone, Helen is the coldest and ruthless aunt in New York. How can this fashionable girl who has always been seeking her own pleasure take good care of the 15-year-old Audrey (Hayden Panetti) and the 10-year-old Kenny ( What about the daily lives of Spencer Breslin) and 5-year-old Sara (Abigail Beslin)? In order to play her new role as a super "mother", Helen began to try to change her lifestyle, but she soon found it difficult to find a balance between the children and her own life, for example, if she insisted on dancing Class, then she couldn't send the children to school on time, which puzzled her.
Helen's good friend Jane (Jan Cusack) advises Helen that haste is not enough, asking her to be patient, but Helen feels that her normal life order has lost its rules. In the process of gradually adapting to the children, Helen unexpectedly got the spiritual help of Dan Parker (played by John Corbett), a young and handsome priest. Dan's other identity is the principal of the children’s new school.
Helen and Dan fell in love through mutual encouragement for a long time. She found that she had to make a choice between the life of a drunk and gold fan she was used to before and her new life.
