The female prosecutor Caroline Polsch was raped and killed, and her colleague Rusty Sabic was ordered to investigate the case. Rusty Sabic and the deceased were once lovers. His wife, Barbara Sabic, also knew that they had an affair, so she accused him of getting too deep in this case from time to time. During the investigation, Rusty Sabic discovered that Caroline Polsch had a file B missing. This file involved an investigation of bribery by a government official. Soon Rusty Sabic was accused of murdering Caroline Porsch, because a glass with Rusty Sabic's fingerprints was found in Caroline Porsch's apartment. As the case progressed, the situation became more and more unfavorable for Rusty Sabic. Rusty Sabic’s friend, detective Liplander, felt very sympathetic to him and destroyed the glass that was used as "criminal evidence." He also learned that the bribery case involved Little, the judge in this case, and Caroline Polsch happened to be Little's assistant and lover at the time. In court, Rusty Sabic’s lawyer Sandy Stern cleverly talked about the secrets of File B and successfully controlled Judge Little, and Rusty Sabic was acquitted. However, when he returned home, he found evidence sufficient to accuse his wife Barbara Sabic as the murderer
