Pépé le Moko evaluation action

This film is a representative work of French poetic realism in the 1930s in France . The whole film is based on the pervasive pessimism, and a popular love story is shot with a strong black taste. Although the story lacks novelty, but because the director makes excellent use of the contrast of light and shadow, the film is enveloped in a gloomy and melancholic atmosphere. The scene scheduling and control also echo this heavy theme, making it more than ordinary gangster movies. More depth. Kaben's performance was very good, and the band leader's feeling of yearning and nostalgia for his hometown was particularly moving. The two later remakes of the film were both failed works.
