In 1916, during the First World War in France, the war between the German and French armies was in full swing. At this critical moment, French Army General Brollard (Adolphe Menjou) issued an order to the army led by Captain Dax (Kirk Douglas): Take down the German-occupied Ant at all costs. Mountain. Under the intensive artillery fire of the enemy, the French army failed to charge and suffered heavy casualties. For the benefit of the soldiers, Captain Dax fought hard, but in the process gradually saw the ugliness of the officers and the war.
