Gilmour del Toro has always been interested in the Spanish Civil War and the dictatorship during the Franco period. For this "Pan's Labyrinth", Gilmour del Toro originally planned to recreate on the basis of his directed "Ghost Boy Academy", but at that time he was busy directing "Blade Warrior 2", so the idea was shelved . Later, "Pan's Labyrinth" reappeared in his mind, and he decided to change his original intention and write "Pan's Labyrinth" as a fairy tale.
Gilmour Del Toro and his friend Alfonso Cuarón, who have known each other for more than 20 years, discussed the idea of creating the film. Cuarón liked his idea very much, and several other producers in the production company hope that Guillermo Del · Toro was able to shoot this film without any restrictions on his creation. Before the film was shot, Gilmour Del Toro organized the notes and sketches of the film into a book. He once left the notes about "Pan Shen's Labyrinth" in the back seat of a taxi, and thought he had lost all his previous work. Later, the taxi driver found Gilmour del Toro after many setbacks and returned this note to him. Gilmour del Toro regarded this incident as a lucky blessing and was more determined to complete the film.

all the extra interpretations of the film look far-fetched. The first viewing of the film is just a simple fairytale with gross visuality.

The angle of this movie is really novel and very good. When I first watched it, I didn’t understand it. I thought it was just a simple magical story. The kingdom is awakened and the princess returns. But in combination with the background, it is actually a little girl’s fantasy under the oppression of World War II. In the end, the little girl was killed but returned to the kingdom, which is the return of the princess. It was her spiritual liberation. So, in general, this movie is good, but the strange eye frightened me.
