David Fincher's least existential movie. It is also a film positioned in a small space. As in his style, the tense, dark effects are rendered nicely. But compared to his previous "Seven Deadly Sins" and "Fight Club", it is indeed slightly inferior. The plot is simple, ordinary, and has no connotation. It is just an ordinary secret room suspense film with a good atmosphere. 3.5 stars

David Fincher's thriller is a relatively low-level one among the films he directed. The cast includes actress Judy Foster and Kristen Stewart, who was only 12 years old at the time. There is also Forest Whitaker, who knows from his looks that he can't be a bad guy, and he has to be a good guy in the end. At the end of the film, a sentence from Judy Foster clarified the main point of the film: Do we need so much space?

Raoul: [to Sarah] Don't you look at me.
Burnham: Hey, all I know about this is what I've seen on TV. You gotta talk me through this.
[fills syringe with insulin]
Burnham: Nice house you guys got. Mom's rich?
Sarah: Dad's rich. Mom's just mad.
Burnham: Like this?
Sarah: Tap it.
Burnham: I wish I could put my kid in a place like this. Not that I didn't try. Just sometimes things they don't work out the way you want them to. Wasn't supposed to be like this. You weren't supposed to be here.
Sarah: Thanks.
[reads jumpsuit]
Sarah: Burnham.
Burnham: Wasn't supposed to be like this.
