Despite its stellar reputation, Out of Africa is clearly a work of disillusionment. The lonely end of personal destiny is a denial of the early colonial path, and you end up not getting what's not yours. Love is really like the gorgeous coat in "The Golden Age", but inside it is a kind of bloody savagery and cruelty. It is a pity that on the vast African continent, there are many possibilities for human nature, but we have seen the smallest one.

The handed down soundtrack, Aunt Mei's acting skills, Uncle Luo's beauty, the scenery of the grasslands, and generally movies are enough. The original is my third original novel. Very feminine life force. So Pollack has to love this book so much that he can keep the flavor and era intact, and use the lens to maximize the romance in the memories of female writers. PS: I wonder how many people visit Denys' tomb when they go to Kenya. He probably won't like it

Out of Africa quotes

  • Kamante: I think that you had better get up. I think that God is coming.

  • [last lines]

Karen Blixen: The mail has come today, and a friend writes this to me.

    [Quoting from the letter:]

Karen Blixen: "The Masai have reported to the district commissioner at Ngong, that many times, at sunrise and sunset, they have seen lions on Finch-Hatton's grave. A lion and a lioness have come there, and stood or lain on the grave for a long time. After you went away, the ground around the grave was leveled out into a sort of terrace. I suppose that the level place makes a good site for the lions. From there, they have a view over the plain, and the cattle and the game on it."... Denys will like that. I must remember to tell him.
