Charlotte (Bette Davis) can be considered an old girl, with stiff hair, conservative clothing, and eccentric personality. To make matters worse, she seems to have dyed The bad problem of alcoholism. At the suggestion of her family, Charlotte decided to embark on a journey of healing and boarded a cruise ship that sailed far away.
On the cruise ship, Charlotte met a man named Jerry (Paul Henreid), and in the accident, he forged a deep friendship with Jerry's daughter. Soon, Charlotte felt that she had fallen in love. However, Jerry was not free at this time, and he had an unfinished marriage. Heartbroken Charlotte chose to leave, and Charlotte's mother died not long after   .
