The filming background of "My Neighbors the Yamadas" was after Miyazaki announced his retirement after finishing "Princess Mononoke". スタジオジブリ started experimenting with the film after Miyazaki retired. The original story is Ishii Shouichi (いしいひさいち), adapted from the four-frame comic "ホーホケキョとなりの Yamada くん", the Japanese original name of the work is "ホーホケキョとなりのyamada くん", the name of the first half of the work "ホーホケキん" cry. The original work was serialized in the Asahi Shimbun, telling the story of a five-person family life with a grandmother, parents, son and daughter as the backbone. It has been popular with readers since the serialization began. Director Takada Action, who was in charge of "Grave of the Fireflies" and "Heisei Tanuki War", made it into a movie, which is a story other than the original manga.
