In the southern town of The United States of America, where racial prejudice is deep-rooted, the protagonist Hank serves as a guard on death row in the town’s prison. Hank's father is an extreme racist. Hank has lived in his father's shadow all his life. His life and thoughts repeat his father's trajectory as if they were inverted, and he instilled racist thoughts into children. The father and son’s latest mission is to execute the death sentence for Lawrence, a black condemned prisoner. However, the newcomer Zinny retreats. Hank disdains his son's cowardice and incompetence. suicide. And Lawrence's wife, Letissa, found a job in a restaurant after her husband died, and accidentally met Hank, who often lingered in the restaurant, and the two developed feelings because of loneliness.
