Mission: Impossible II Shoot

The film was shot in the spring and summer of 1999, and the crew moved to Australia, Utah and Los Angeles. During the entire shooting process, the most memorable thing was Tom Cruise's stubborn insistence on completing most of the stunts himself. For Cruise, the most exciting experience for him was the rock climbing scene shot in Moya, Utah. He said that it felt like driving an F-14 or F-18, full of fantasy and incredible pleasure. The rock climbing scene of the opening film was shot in Dead Horse Point, Utah. Tom Cruise used a safety cable at the time. The safety cable was repaired by digital technology in post-production, and two stunt doubles were used during shooting. When shooting the thrilling scene where the sharp knife almost pierced the eye, the actor used a real knife at Wu Yusen's suggestion, and it was only a quarter of an inch away from the eye. The knife is connected to the rope, and after precise measurement, Cruise also insists that Dogrey Scott use all his strength when fighting.

Mission: Impossible II quotes

  • Dr. Nekhorvich: [from a video recording presented by Swanbeck with Ethan watching] Every search for a hero must begin with something that every hero requires: A villain.

  • Mission Commander Swanbeck: [seeing and hearing his briefing through sunglasses and it's earpieces] Good morning, Mr. Hunt. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the recovery of a stolen item designated "Chimera." You may select any two team members, but it is essential that the third member of your team be Nyah Nordoff-Hall. She is a civilian, and a highly capable professional thief. You have forty-eight hours to recruit Miss Hall and meet me in Seville to receive your assignment. As always, should any member of your team be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions. And Mr. Hunt, the next time you go on holiday, please be good enough to let us know where you're going. This message will self-destruct in five seconds.

Ethan Hunt: [5 seconds before he throws the sunglasses in front of him] I let you know where I'm going, I won't be on holiday.
