The story takes place in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York. Charlie, like his friends around him, is the descendant of Italian immigrants. They have no formal jobs and make a living by doing black market business and working for the mafia. Charlie's friend Jonny is a guy who likes to make troubles, and currently he owes a lot of money to the black market businessman Michael, but he can't pay it back. Charlie, Jonny, and another friend, Tony, were so bored that they wandered around. They drank, fought, lied, and even witnessed the shooting in the bar.
Charlie and Jonny’s cousin Tereza truly love each other, but Tereza is very tired of Charlie’s current life, and is determined to leave "Little Italy" to find a new beginning. After Charlie's uncle and Mafia leader Mario learned of the relationship between his nephew and Jonny's family, he warned him to stay away from these "problematic" people.
Michael, who failed to collect debts several times, was a little angry. In order to calm the matter, Charlie assured him that Jonny would repay the money as soon as possible. In Tony's bar, Michael fought with him angrily when he found that Jonny could not get a dollar. Jonny suddenly drew his pistol and pointed it at Michael, who had to leave angrily.
Charlie, Jonny, and Tereza drove to the movies, and decided to go to the country for shelter first. Just as they were talking and laughing, a car behind chased up, and Michael in the car stretched out his pistol and fired at Charlie and the others. Charlie's car smashed into the fire hydrant, and the three injured young people climbed out of the car and let out a heart-piercing cry in the dark   .
