Director Dziga Vertov creatively used a lot of montage techniques in the film to realize the textual expression of his theory of "movie eye". Vertov emphasized the use of "snapshots" to capture fragments of life, so the film has no subtitles, actors, and no props or sets. During the filming of the film, photographer Mikael Kaufman also appeared in the film while filming, pioneering the film form of "self-exposure", and adopted shooting techniques such as elevation, close-up, and push-pull lenses. In the post-production of the film, Vertov used editing techniques such as double exposure, fast forward, slow motion, picture freeze, jump editing, picture segmentation for the first time, and produced a stop motion animation.
