To a certain extent, the director of the film was influenced by the " Tsim Sha Tsui shooting", and Xu Bugao in the case was the prototype of Gao Zhiwei in the film. In the early morning of March 17, 2006, three police officers drew their guns and bombed each other in a pedestrian tunnel in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, causing two deaths and one injury. One of the two deceased was off-duty police officer Xu Bugao. The pistol he used at the time was confirmed to be the gun of police officer Liang Chengen who was killed on March 14, 2001 , and the gun was suspected to be related to multiple homicides.
