The crew tailored roles for many actors before seeing them in person. Kim Yunzhen first read the script for the role of Kate, and there was no role of Sun at that time. George Garcia was reading the script for the role of Sawye, and there was no role of Hurley at the time. But after seeing Kim Yunjin's resume and performance, and understanding her position in South Korea, the crew decided that she had to write a role for her. In the end, the crew created the role of Sun based on her audition performance, and because she thought she should be married, she also had the role of Daniel King.
