The scenes in the film span 13 countries. On August 2, 2004, the "King of War" crew was officially launched in New York. In the first few days, they filmed many scenes in Manhattan and Coney Island's Brighton Beach. The crew took only 9 days to shoot the location of the United States, and then rushed to Cape Town, South Africa to start a 10-week high-load work. As the local public security was a headache, many worries followed, but the director Andrew still decided to stop there. The construction of street scenes in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, turned out that the scenes in the film are almost fake. In November, the crew moved to the Czech Republic, where they completed the filming of some Eastern European backgrounds in the film, and a local former Soviet military base was also fully utilized.
