"The Fantastic Drifting of the Junior School" is adapted from Jan Martel's novel of the same name. This novel not only won the Man Booker Award, but also stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for more than a year. The story of the novel attracted the attention of the film's producer Jill Nette. Nate and Flowserve production director Elizabeth Gabler spent several years developing this project. Since Ang Lee likes to make movies with strong emotions and his works are changeable, the investor decided to let Ang Lee shoot the movie; and the task of adapting the original work was assigned to the 77th Oscar finalist with "Finding Neverland". David Margo, the best adapted screenplay award, is here to perform. After taking over this job, Maggot began to think about how to convert the original work into a script. In the end, he decided to simply use one story to tell another story. In the book, Pai is telling a story to the writer; similarly, Ang Lee is also telling a story to the audience in a movie.
